Dispatches from the Abyss: Why Do Fellow Witches Scam WItchy Businesses?

As a witch and witchy business owner, I will never understand why anyone thinks it’s a good idea to scam witches? I’ve run Belladonna’s Botanicals for eight years and the amount of fellow witches who have done absolutely shitty and scammy things is astounding. I’m assuming if you’re buying witchy products that you’re probably of the witchy persuasion and a lot of this is reflected in our policies and why I’m kind of a stickler on no refunds or returns is because of the amount of people who have scammed us over the years. I’m a small business owner and no different than anyone else who has a regular job. However, I am disabled and can no longer work a regular desk, job or work retail or whatever. There is a special place for witches who scam disabled witches!

I struggle with listening to my intuition and I’m working on because I genuinely, despite  misanthropic and nihilistic at times, usually try to see the good in people until otherwise I’ll be proven wrong. I don’t immediately look at customers and think this person’s out to scam me. I generally don’t worry about it. I will say this much since I stopped selling on Amazon the amount of “missing orders or order my order never showed up - I don’t want it resent I want a refund" has dropped exponentially I think I jinxed myself yesterday when I realized that. I had an order on my website that was flagged as high risk. I do occasionally get things that through the fraud filter. I’ve had regular customers flagged as a low to medium risk for various things most of the time if there’s no issue. I’ve never had an issue with stuff on my website -- all of my previous chargebacks came from Amazon.

I had a custom order for an Abraxas oil and the person was from Brazil. I ship all over the place no big whoop. It was flagged as that because it looked like it was using a different credit card and stuff and foreign bank cards get tagged a lot for risk assessment, but I contacted the customer to confirm their mailing address and request there international ID for customs to request that number they sent me their number. I printed out the shipping label and mailed it yesterday and immediately got a chargeback request through my payment process same day.

I have never lost a chargeback claim. I keep all my receipts. I have everything in a folder already and that’s gonna be going to my payment processor and your charge back is not going to go through so enjoy your Abraxas Oil -- I’ll be sure to add some extra special fun surprising spicy effects for you and let this be a lesson -- stop scamming fellow practitioners. It’s gross. It’s disgusting and doubly so when you do it to a disabled witch.

This is the reason why I don’t do refunds or returns because I have had an eight year saga of similar bullshit from trash ass witches - I’d ship an order it would arrive and get a same day return claiming 'it didn’t work' or because 'ordered by accident' and I ordered by accident. When I accepted returns as such it would appear that they just enough of the oil for a ritual and then returned it to get their money back. This happened often enough that I had to change my policies as such.

When you are scamming a disabled witch, you’re literally taking food out of my mouth while I’m chewing it. Enjoy the curses that will be flying your way! Do you think I can’t curse you from here? Sweetie wouldn’t be the first time and won't be the last. I know I’m not alone in this. I know a lot of mainstream occult authors who have built-in curses into their books for theft and plagiarism prevention. I can't imagine screwing over other practitioners and think your magick is going to work??? That is a special level of dumb. and that makes you a really shitty witch and occultist and your magic ain’t gonna work because you probably got a bunch of curses thrown back at you for being a shitty human, but I digress.

In the meantime, I’ll be having a conversation with Abraxas and some of my other little demonic friends, and fuck around and find out. May all you do come back to you!
