Generational wars are a tool of distraction and division causing a downslide into anti-intellectualism and the generational transfer of knowledge creating and fostering communities. Why are we fighting over the audacity of birth order and aging?
The generational wars seem to have started in the 1980s and I asked myself - what if this was the beginning stage of the dumbing down of America? I’m on the younger side of Gen X and it became very evident in the 'die yuppie scum' area era of 1980s that we began the first generational war against our Boomer parents and their generation as a whole.
I write about things that effect the general zeitgeist, but also are applicable to the occult spectrum, studies, and practices. If you study human history, much of what is passed down from elders to the younger generations and generation after generation is that we elevate the younger generations to where we are and something has been broken with that for a very long time, which is why you see these all out generation wars playing out online. It’s screw the Boomers... screw Gen X, etc. We’re discrediting the influence, education and institutional learning, and experiential knowledge transfers from generation to generation. I am 50 now and it appears that the younger generations have rejected the elder status of those who come after came before them. To the younger generation, you will be the old people too someday and the generational knowledge transfer is very much needed. It's clearly missing throughout the occult when it comes to the variants of generational practices and thought.
I’m going to share a personal story there was expression that it 'takes a village' when it comes to say raising children and having a family -- that village was the community and that seems to be something that’s missing today. My mother kept a diary of the first full year of my life and some of it is doctors appointment and growth charts, but what became really evident was she had a village -- both sets my grandparents were local and were there her brothers, her close friends were there almost every single day to help raise me. My father was going to night school and working during the days, but it took a village and what I see now and honestly is one of the reasons I didn’t or the reasons I chose not to have children because I didn’t have the village. The village doesn’t exist the way it used to, and when the village doesn’t exist things stop getting passed down.
As you know, I’ve been deep in the weeds of ancestral healing and integration and explorations through genealogy. Since my parents are getting older, my brother and I are are taking on the mantle of the family traditions and it’s some of it’s coming through my parents some of it is coming from my grandmother‘s recipes and heirlooms. I talk to so many people who are so fully assimilated into Americanism that they couldn’t tell you the first thing about any of their ancestral cultures, history, heritage, and practices. We are keeping the traditions alive. We may not have the village so to speak, but we have the building blocks and knowledge to co-create a future that mirrors the past, in better ways, of course.
Additionally, the generational wars since the election have been another distraction because if we’re blaming each other and we’re fighting amongst ourselves.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but we all kind of suck!
Any generation or any group of people is gonna be striated in numerous ways. For instance, social media posts read like "I can’t believe how much of Gen X is Maga." Let’s look at that regionally. I live in Pennsylvania and it’s a purple state most of the time but my Gen X friends here are fine. I’m sure there’s been a couple jerks here and they are over over the year, but they found their way out of the circle pretty fast. I went to a Catholic high school and my friends are still pretty freaking liberal even now from a Catholic high school. However, I would wager to guess that the peers from when I lived in Northwest Georgia from 1981-84 in the Marjorie Taylor- Greene district are probably MAGA -- and that makes sense as the geographical region sometimes gets into the binary blue state, red state, and then there’s purple states but it’s more than just a generational issue.
So how do we move forward? I think we need to just STOP with the generational war most of which is fueled by social media and TikTok videos. The younger generations need to be open that to the fact that the older generations do have lived experience, wisdom, living history, and knowledge to pass down, and the older generations have much to learn from the younger in terms of societal shifts, ways of thinking, and moving towards whatever comes next next after this Americanism capitalist Hellscape run by fascist billionaire pedophiles bites the dust -- which it will as all empires fall sooner or later. America’s no different.
The generational wars are manufactured divisiveness meant to keep us fighting with each other instead of fighting the the powers of the be of the Tech Bros, the billionaires the ones making money from all the clicks from your generational warfare, If we are going to beat the fascists, billionaires, and the Tech Bros, then we need to stop fighting each other and do better. So it doesn’t matter what generation you are from it’s a classification, but it’s not the only defining factor of who you are as a person. We are so much more than Gen X, Gen Z, Millennial, Boomer or Gen Alpha and once we stop fighting, we will realize that we can learn from each other and grow and maybe just maybe make the future worth fighting for
