I started doing this series last week sharing nuggets of wisdom, hope, occasional witty observations, and other thoughts. I purposefully decided that these need to be text based posts on social media that are also available on my blog. I am mostly doing this for myself, though hope that some of you are actually reading these writings.Â
You might be asking yourself -- Why not make TikTok videos? Because I am not contributing to the short form video brain rot. Yes, I know that is where the algorithms point to, but the brain rot crowd are not my people. I have to spend so much time debunking metaphysical and occult nonsense from the no thoughts only copy/paste thoughts of others crowd. I am now dedicating more time on my YouTube channel to produce more occult related thought pieces beyond the BS of what is being crapped out of WitchTok.Â
I may sound like an old person, because I am a battle worn internet denizen since 1994. Some of you weren't even born yet. I came up through the dot com era via my first husband and moved through the tech industry, well before it became this dark enlightenment technofascist bullshit. Maybe it always was that way, but my ex shielded me from it? I don't know. I am not one to not put up the good fight and put people in their place. I'll have to share the glorious anecdote of how I left someone unemployable in their field for many grievances, but the final straw was -- yet again -- someone had to tell my first husband "he best learn how to control his woman." We always chuckled over that. He would be like look bro...she can do waaaaay more damage than I can so like do or don't, but you probably will wish you didn't if you do.
I was a social media manager and web content creator and manager for many years at previous jobs. I saw every single platform rise, plateau, and some disappear entirely. Some I never cared for like Vine and SnapChat. TikTok is too addicting for my ADHD dopamine seeking behaviors.
Social media is dying as is the internet and AI is not helping. This is the death throes of technology. I wish the younger generations were able to experience the good ole days of the internet, but alas those days are long gone. Now our tools of connection and reconnection have become tools of fascism and control.
How do we stay connected with our global communities when the connections fail or no longer become safe?Â
