I have been writing a few more dispatches over the past week or so, but have been battling an autoimmune pain flare, but such is life as a disabled occultist. I have seen a lot of other creators talking about "we don't do politics" as being problematic and sometimes it is, but I like to offer my experiences as a disabled person with AuDHD and C-PTSD.
"We don't do politics" doesn't always indicate apathy or an enemy from opposing factions in the midst or someone stuck in the middle-- sometimes its people like me with C-PTSD and AuDHD who need to protect their peace at times. Honestly, I hate talking about politics as I find it boring and tedious -- well when we aren't in the free fall collapse of amerika, the horrors of the Epstein list being revealed, ICE murderers, ruzzia being ruzzia, and so on and so forth.
Until 2023-24, I was very firmly rooted in separation of business and sociopolitical issues unless something either affected me or the business, which I know sounds like a privileged take, but it really depends on the topic. Outside of standard business marketing, I used to only addresses things as such in YouTube videos, obviously that changed a lot in 2024.
Some reluctance to speak out was self-preservation from bullying and abuse from the magat incels in the Left Hand Path (LHP). I started leaving those groups like Become a Living God and separated myself from other LHP creators of similar abusive magat ilk. I have no regrets there aside from not doing it sooner.
I have also seen other creators go very heavy handed forcing topics into conversations awkwardly or for their participation trophy activism. I had to unfollow some brand name creators over the years for bullying and shaming other creators for not talking about XYZ topic or issue. Sometimes I don't know what to say or you will get the most autistic info dump on the subject for hours at a clip.
It's not to say I didn't care or didn't speak up about any sociopolitical issues. I am a private person to some extent so my good deeds and activism are solely categorized as doing the right thing. I don't need credit or attention for it if I helped someone, I helped them. I put in my years in boots on the ground activism before my body started falling apart.
I have to protect my peace and that involves not doomscrolling night and day and heavily monitoring my news intake and social media activity. its how I protect MYSELF and MY PEACE. I have earned the right to do that. My life is hard enough being disabled and I am allowed to opt out and care for my failing health -- and so are you if this resonates.
